The Denim Nuns
A little over a decade ago, two sets of young siblings met at a rock-themed birthday party for a four-year-old in the small town of Auburn, California. Dark forces conspired to keep them apart, temporarily postponing but not preventing the universe's master design for them to unite, as they finally did in 2024, as a punk-influenced rock band with the moniker, The Denim Nuns. TDN’s high-energy infectious music is reminiscent of a cross between Amyl and the Sniffers and The Linda Lindas with Van Halenesque guitar solos.
Making waves in Northern California and beyond, The Denim Nuns have opened for UK punk band Bad Nerves at Goldfield Trading Post in Sacramento, Texas-based punk band Noogy in Reno, acoustic folk punk artist Shauna Dean Cokeland and Bay Area favorites Tess and the Details. They played at the April 2025 Reno Punk Rock Flea Market and the UC Davis Whole Earth Festival. TDN has won two Northern California "Battles of the Bands" competitions in the last year, including the 2025 KDVS UC Davis Battle of the Bands.
The Denim Nuns’ full-length debut album, Academic Comeback of the Century, offers an eclectic collection of genre-bending songs, incorporating elements from punk, grunge, ska and classic rock. Tracks can be heard on college radio stations and all listening platforms.
The Denim Nuns are not, despite popular belief, real nuns. They do, however, wear denim. Often.
“A punk rock ‘n roll juggernaut of incredible energy and power with a stage commanding singer, a precise and pounding rhythm section, and one of those scary good young shredders on guitar. Not confined by genre, they write really solid alt/punk/rock songs mixing joyful bounce and fearsome pounce” –Lee Osh of Sacramento Punk Shows
